India’s U-19 World Cup Hero Manjot Kalra Denied Bail in LPL Match-Fixing Case
Former India Under-19 World Cup champion Manjot Kalra has been denied bail by a Colombo court in Sri Lanka as investigations into the alleged Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2026 match-fixing case continue.
Kalra, who became a household name after scoring an unbeaten century in the 2018 ICC Under-19 World Cup final, remains in judicial custody after the court rejected his plea for bail on medical grounds. Prosecutors argued that the investigation is still ongoing and that additional witnesses have come forward, prompting the court to extend his remand.
The allegations relate to an alleged attempt to influence players during the 2026 Lanka Premier League. Sri Lankan authorities claim several players reported suspected corruption approaches, while investigators continue gathering evidence.
Kalra has denied all allegations through his legal team, maintaining his innocence and stating that he intends to challenge the prosecution’s evidence during the upcoming court proceedings.
The case remains under investigation, and no conviction has been made. Further hearings are expected in the coming days as Sri Lankan authorities continue their probe into the alleged corruption scandal.
