The University of Colombo secured the Inter-University Rugby Championship for the third consecutive year, continuing their impressive dominance in university rugby.
The championship final, played recently at the Thimbirigasyaya Police Grounds, saw the University of Colombo take on the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in a closely fought contest.
Colombo held their nerve to secure an 18–16 victory, successfully defending their title in a thrilling final.
The Colombo side took control early and went into halftime with a 10–5 lead. Sri Jayewardenepura fought back strongly after the interval, but Colombo managed to maintain their narrow advantage and eventually sealed another championship triumph.
The victory marks a remarkable third successive Inter-University Rugby title for the University of Colombo, further establishing them as the dominant force in university rugby.
