Outstanding performances in the ongoing ICC Women’s Championship series between Sri Lanka and Pakistan have been rewarded in the latest ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings, with several players achieving career-best positions after an impressive week of cricket.
Pakistan opener Sidra Amin has broken into the top 10, climbing to ninth place after scoring 57 and an unbeaten 100 in the first two One-Day Internationals in Hambantota. Her rise sees her move ahead of India’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur.
Fellow Pakistan batter Gull Feroza also enjoyed a remarkable jump, moving 18 places to 54th after her fluent 78 off 77 balls helped Pakistan claim a five-wicket victory in the opening match.
Sri Lanka responded in style in the second ODI, leveling the three-match series at 1-1 with a commanding eight-wicket victory achieved with 19 balls to spare. The win was built around a superb 203-run partnership for the second wicket between Vishmi Gunaratne and Harshitha Samarawickrama.
Gunaratne produced the finest innings of her ODI career, scoring 123 from 123 deliveries, while Samarawickrama remained unbeaten on 100 from 119 balls, steering Sri Lanka to a comfortable chase.
Their match-winning performances have also been reflected in the ICC rankings. Harshitha Samarawickrama has climbed three places to a joint career-best 17th, reaching 604 rating points, while Vishmi Gunaratne has surged 16 places to a career-best 39th, with 433 rating points.
With the series now level at 1-1, the final ODI will not only decide the series winner but could also bring further changes to the ICC rankings as both sides aim to finish on a high.
