After being asked to bat first, Jaffna built their innings on valuable contributions throughout the batting order. Kamil Mishara top-scored with 49, while Avishka Fernando chipped in with 36. The momentum shifted dramatically in the closing overs as Chamindu Wickramasinghe blasted a sensational 43 off just 15 deliveries, before Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten on 22 and Dunith Wellalage added an unbeaten 16, powering Jaffna past the 220-run mark.
Chasing a daunting target of 222, Kandy Royals fought hard through Pawan Sandesh, who made 48, and Vijay Shankar, who contributed 25. However, regular wickets prevented them from building the partnerships needed to stay in contention.
Jaffna’s bowling attack held its nerve, with Shakib Al Hasan and Dunith Wellalage starring with the ball, claiming three wickets each to bowl Kandy out for 200.
