Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga has powered into the men’s javelin throw final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after producing a superb throw of 82.84 metres in the qualification round.
Competing against some of the Commonwealth’s finest throwers, Tharanga delivered a composed and commanding performance to comfortably secure his place among the finalists. His impressive effort showcased the form and confidence that have made him one of Sri Lanka’s leading athletics stars.
With the qualification round featuring several athletes beyond the 80-metre mark, the competition was intense from the outset. However, Tharanga rose to the challenge with a powerful and technically precise throw that kept Sri Lanka’s medal hopes firmly alive.
